{"id":497,"date":"2025-03-22T11:43:07","date_gmt":"2025-03-22T10:43:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mglaerospace.com\/?p=497"},"modified":"2025-11-01T12:06:34","modified_gmt":"2025-11-01T11:06:34","slug":"senior-avionics-engineer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mglaerospace.com\/index.php\/2025\/03\/22\/senior-avionics-engineer\/","title":{"rendered":"SENIOR AVIONICS ENGINEER"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We are recruiting a Senior (+10years) avionics system engineer for integrating new systems into aging aircraft like Boeing 707.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Work Permit<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Must hold EU Passport or have right to work in Switzerland to apply for this job.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Required Technical Skills:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"1\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Aerospace Engineer Specializing in Avionics Systems:<\/strong>\u202fStrong experience in integrating new systems into aging aircraft.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Expertise in FMS (Flight Management Systems):<\/strong>\u202fIn-depth knowledge of FMS and its integration into older aircraft like the Boeing 707. This includes:\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Integration of dual FMS or GPS with analog cockpit instruments.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Substantiation, ground testing, and flight testing (Category 2).\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Development of AFMS procedures and limitations.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Pilot familiarization.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Addition of independent sensors if none are available on the airplane in the right format (typically: TAS, HDG) and digital-analog interfaces.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Analog APFD interface and possible system interconnections modifications.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Relay logic switching, approximately 30-40 contacts.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"3\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Experience in ADS-B and Surveillance Systems:<\/strong>\u202fExperience installing and configuring ADS-B Out systems, including compliance testing. This includes:\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Retrofitting IFF transponders to incorporate ADS-B, with no other ATC transponder.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No data yet if systems are already EHS, and no data on intended IFF and effects on TCAS.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ol start=\"4\" class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Expert in Navigation and LPV Standards Compliance:<\/strong>\u202fAbility to ensure that installed systems comply with modern navigation and surveillance standards.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Knowledge of Avionics Interfaces (ARINC, etc.):<\/strong>\u202fEven though ARINC 429 is not available on the Boeing 707, it is crucial to have knowledge of avionics systems and alternatives for integrating new equipment.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Knowledge of Inertial Systems (IRS) and Air Data:<\/strong>\u202fExperience with installation, configuration, and testing of inertial reference and air data units, if required. This includes:\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>At worst, mini AHRS and ADC if not possible to convert analog data.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Experience and Education:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Degree in aerospace engineering or a related field (Master\u2019s degree or equivalent).\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><u>At least 10 years of experience<\/u><\/strong> in installing and upgrading avionics systems on commercial or military aircraft, particularly in projects involving the renovation of older aircraft.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Experience in avionics system integration on aging aircraft, particularly in the areas of FMS and ADS-B.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Additional Skills:<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Ability to work with non-standard or outdated equipment (such as those used on the Boeing 707).\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Strong project management skills and ability to meet tight deadlines.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Proficiency in avionics system simulation and validation tools.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Languages:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Professional English is a must<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>French highly desirable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Scope of Avionics Engineer:<\/strong>&nbsp; The scope of the avionics engineer includes all the points mentioned in the skills table.
